A Visual Journey Through Afro-Mexico

Photography has always been an integral part of my research on Afro-Mexicans. It has allowed me to capture moments, faces, and places in ways that complement and deepen the stories told through words. Over several years of travel and ethnographic fieldwork, primarily in the Costa Chica region, I’ve documented daily life, cultural celebrations, and the striking landscapes that define these communities.

The images you’ll find in this gallery reflect my commitment to respectfully portraying Afro-Mexican communities as vibrant, culturally rich, and resilient, despite a long history of marginalization and invisibility.
